YONGZHENG (1723-35)
Each very finely and richly enamelled and gilt with an elegantly dressed lady, three boys and a diminutive attendant beside bamboo furniture, garden seats, a fan, a whisk and scrolls in a large vase, smaller vessels of fruit and flowers, and a stool supporting a basket of fruit, all within a hexafoil panel with gilt surround reserved on a pale blue Y-pattern ground, below a narrow pale yellow dragon band at the well, and a pale lilac cell-pattern band at the border reserved with three fruit and flower cartouches alternating with gilt dragon roundels, the reverse of each enamelled in a deep even ruby-red tone

A single plate with almost identical decoration was in the Clark Collection, illustrated by Edgar Bluett, Chinese Pottery and Porcelain in the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Clark, (n.d.), having originally appeared in an issue of Apollo - A Journal of the Arts, between September 1933 and May 1934.
