With gilt-finished three quarter plate movement, spring detent escapement, bimetallic balance with gold compensation weights, blued steel helical hairspring, diamond endstone, free sprung regulator, silver cuvette, the white enamel regulator-style dial with outer ring calibrated for black Arabic five minute divisions, central blued steel minute hand, small hour dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel spade hand to 12 o'clock, constant seconds, in large engine-turned case with ribbed band, gold hinges, dial and movement signed and numbered, case and cuvette numbered and stamped with casemaker's initials CBH and London date letter for 1856
