The present drawing table has been designed by Norman Foster (1935) around 1980-82, produced by the workshop Stapleton Engineering, Essex. The table was executed in a small edition and has been part of the interior of Foster and Partners, Norman Foster's international studio for architecture based in London.
The original design was made for the Renault Distribution Centre (1980-1982) and can be considered as a design development of the dining tables that were manufactured by a Norfolk firm called Display Systems. This company no longer exists.
Furthermore the table can be seen as a predecessor of the dining table from the Nomos-series for the firm of Tecno, Italy.
