Jean-Jacques Cartier and R. Emerson designed the "Crash" watch in the 1960s, This model is designed after the 'limp' watch in Salvador Dali's painting The Persistence of Memory, 1931, exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Only 15 examples were made in the first series by Cartier London. During the 70s and 80s, clients were able to special order the "Crash" through Cartier London. The hallmarks on this watch dates the present watch to 1990.
