Lot Essay

The first album is from Callow's first walking tour along the Seine in 1835, see H.M. Cundall, William Callow- an Autobiography, London, 1908, pp 28-9. Callow also made a tour on foot round the Isle of Wight and 'afterwards went on a visit to some relatives in Lowestoft'. John Callow travelled to Paris with his brother, William, in 1835.
