This drawing is a study for the painting L'idole (Rewald, p. 140). The same figure in reverse appears in the painting Et l'or de leurs corps, 1901 (Rewald, p. 145; Musée de Louvre, Paris) and also in a woodcut (Guérin, no. 35.)
