QIANLONG, DATED TO 1785 AND OF THE PERIOD
Written on silk brocade woven with ruyi-cloud pattern-ground mounted as a handscroll, the text arranged in standard form reading from left to right in Manchu and repeated from right to left in Chinese characters, the Chinese text opening with a four-character title in a vertical line, Fengtian Gaomin, 'By the Command of Heaven', flanked by a pair of dragons, followed by a long text and ending with the date 50th year of Qianlong, corresponding to 1785, stamped with a large Manchu seal impression bearing the four characters, Zhigao Zhibao, 'A permit to authorise', with its Manchu transliteration within a square, continuing with further Manchu text
