The character, Liuhai, was a popular theme in Ming and Qing bamboo carvings, another brushpot with same theme in Simon Kwan collection was included in the exhibition, Ming and Qing Bamboo, Art Gallery of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2000, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 34.
