Of characteristic flattened hexagonal shape, the waisted neck flanked by a pair of tubular handles, applied overall with an even dark olive-green glaze finely speckled with yellowish-green dusting, the foot rim and mark applied with a brown wash

A similar vase was included in the 1988 Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Iron in the Fire, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 89, and on the front cover; and another from the W. W. Winkworth collection was sold at Sotheby's London, 12 December 1972, lot 130. A larger vase of this form and with a teadust glaze is illustrated in Chinese Ceramics in the Idemitsu Collection, Tokyo, 1987, no. 965.
