A RARE EARLY MING BLUE AND WHITE BOWL
XUANDE SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1426-1435)

The interior of the bowl densely decorated, the centre with a lotus pond scene depicting lotus flowers, leaves and arrowheads half-submerged in water, certain floral elements filled with cross-hatching, encircled by angular scrollwork and a broad foliate meander on the cavetto, below a diamond-motif border at the mouth rim, the exterior with a broad frieze enclosing a foliate scroll bearing cross-hatched leaves and curly tendrils below wavy lines at the everted rim
