JOHN Chrysostom. Opera Graecè, octo voluminibus, Eton: [Melchisedec Bradwood] for John Norton, 1612 (engraved title dated 1613). 2° (341 x 222mm). Fine additional engraved title in volume I by L. Gaultier, woodcut royal arms on printed titles, with the initial blank in volume VII and the final blank in volume V (lacks initial blank in volume VI, lower fore-corner of title in volume VI torn away with no loss, V3&4 in the same volume detached but present, light waterstaining at the end of volume II, final errata leaf in volume I pasted down). Later 17th-century English sprinkled calf gilt, 19th-century labels on spines (some volumes a little rubbed, head and foot of spine of some volumes worn). Provenance: John Lynche, Canon of Salisbury and Vicar of Alborne in Wiltshire (later 17th-century inscription on verso of engraved title); Darwell Stone (bookplate). A monument of Greek printing in England, overseen by Sir Henry Savile (1549-1622). provost of Eton from 1596.
