MISSAL, Use of Sarum. Missale ad vsum ecclesie Sarisburiensis. [Paris: F. Regnault], 1534. 3 parts in one volume, 2° (329 x 213mm). Printed in red and black, Woodcut English arms, Tudor Rose and St George and the Dragon on title within a historiated border, large woodcut on a1r within same border, woodcut illustrations and initials, woodcut music (lacks all after second H4, the 2 vellum leaves of the Canon Missae in very good facsimile, repaired tears in +2, some browning and light waterstaining). Contemporary blindstamped English calf over wooden boards, pastedowns from a 14th-century canon law manuscript (rebacked, upper cover detached, lacks one clasp, lacks a piece of calf on lower cover, rubbed). Provenance: Wylliam Smyth (contemporary signature on +8r); J. Jonsey (late 16th/early 17th-century signature at foot of title); H. Liddon, 1879 (signature on front pastedown).
