Hodgson, 1789. 8°, woodcut frontispiece and 51 Dance of Death woodcuts in the text by Thomas and John Bewick (some staining and spotting throughout). Early 19th-century roan-backed boards (very rubbed). First Bewick edition. A Newcastle edition appeared in the same year soon after which the blocks were destroyed by fire in London. Hugo 35.
