FARADAY, Michael (1791-1867). Two autograph letters signed ('M. Faraday') to John Walker (1781-1859), Royal Institution, 27 May 1850 and 6 January 1853, together 3 pages, 8vo, both letters mounted on guard.
'I propose submitting to you a considerable change in the manner of moving and ventilating the lanthorns L'. Faraday arranges a meeting with Walker. Faraday, the scientist and natural philospher, was a supporter of Walker's, the inventor of the precursor of the match. The earlier letter discusses arrangements to attend a party held by the mathematician and scientist Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace (1815-1852). (2)
