Of pear shaped form with a domed cover with urn finial, scroll thumbpiece and 'broken-scroll' handle, engraved on one side with a Coat of Arms and motto inside a rococo cartouche of the Amcotts (or Amcots) family, unmarked

Lot Essay

This form which derives from silver jugs of the 1720's is rare in pewter. The scroll thumbpiece and spade handle terminal are also early features but the style of the armorial and the 'broken-scroll' handle are more typical of the mid 18th century.
