H.M.S. Bruizer was one of the first group of destroyers, known as the "A" class, ordered for the Royal Navy in the early 1890s. Built at numerous locations, the order for Bruizer went to Thornycroft's works at Chiswick from where she was launched on 27th February 1895. Constructed to uniform design specifications, Bruizer and her sisters all displaced 280 tons, measured 201½ feet in length with a 19 foot beam and mounted 1-12pdr. and 5-6pdrs. by way of armament. Despite their usefulness, they were soon outdated by rapid technological change and Bruizer was scrapped in May 1914, just before the outbreak of the Great War.
