NAVAL COMMISSIONS. A collection of documents, comprising:
GEORGE II, King of England. Document signed ('George R.'), appointing George Ornsby 2nd Lieutenant in the 94th Company of Marines, St James's, 1 November 1759, printed text on vellum completed in manuscript, countersignatures of George, Baron Anson, Edward Boscawen and Sir George Hay, papered seal;
and six others, including documents signed by John JERVIS, 1st Earl of ST VINCENT (20 June 1797, appointing a lieutenant on the Meleager), Edward Boscawen (28 April 1759, commissioning John Chubb as 3rd lieutenant on the Thetis), and four commissions of Charles Thackeray, as lieutenant on the Sphynx, and subsequently on the sloop Thorn (1787 and 1788, each signed by Richard, Earl Howe, and others), 2nd lieutenant on the sloop Hound (1791), and 2nd lieutenant on the sloop Spitfire (1793, signed by Samuel, 1st Viscount Hood, and others); together 7 documents, framed and glazed.
