The painted glass Roman and Arabic dial signed CARON ET LEPINE HORLOGERS DU ROY A PARIS the movement with rectangular plates with four back-pinned baluster pillars, twin spring barrels, pinwheel escapement with silk-suspended pendulum, the backplate with calibrated countwheel strike on a bell, the backplate signed Caron et Lepine Hger du Roi AParis, framed by a ribbon-tied frieze and flanked by scrolling foliage and olive tree branches, the cresting decorated with a ribbon-twist above a draped putto, the base carved with another putto standing beside a trophy with a quiver, a book and a snake, the handles associated, the glazed bezel lacking, restorations, the ribbon-tie regilt but probably original
