MID-18TH CENTURY, IN THE MANNER OF CHARLES TOPINO
The serpentine-shaped top lined with gilt-tooled leather, above a frieze fitted with a front gilt-tooled leather lined slide, a right hand side narrow hinged drawer fitted with three wells and revealing a secret drawer and a left-hand side drawer, the frieze decorated with panels inlaid with landscapes with houses, on slightly cabriole legs headed by pierced foliate rockwork clasps and terminating in sabots cast with cabochons, stamped twice '3086', once '3085' and twice with an unknown stamp, with stamp beneath drawers '2957', the fitted drawer with early 19th century English lock stamped 'PATENT' and possibly re-lined at that time to allow for a spring-operated secret drawer, with indistinct circular customs stamp, the surround to the leather possibly re-veneered
