Lot Essay

Léonard Boudin, maître in 1761.

Boudin frequently worked with fellow ébénistes, producing both floral marquetry and lacquer furniture. He later became marchand-ébéniste, restamping pieces already bearing a name, and stamping 'old furniture'.
A very similar table, stamped by Guillaume Cordié, is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Le Meuble Français et Européen du Moyen Âge a nos jours, Paris, 1991, page 272.
