Lot Essay

Related Chinese figures, in decorative rococo frames, were hung in a bedroom apartment at Saltram, Devon, whose walls were hung in the Parisian fashion with early 18th century scenic Chinese wallpaper (National Trust Guide, Saltram, 1975, p. 23).
