A collection of 13 chromolithographed designs for F.H. Ayres tennis rackets printed on card, c. 1880, 21 x 14in. (54 x 35.5cm), showing important variations in racket size and shape, central wedge, and stringing, one described as "champion", a second as "championship", others as "Union" and "Egyptian" (all spotted, several torn with severe loss), preserved in contemporary boards, blind-stamped "Specimens of Lawn Tennis Rackets manufactured by F. H. Ayres, London".
