(1876 title spotted, 1877 title holed with loss to 4 lines, ensuing leaf holed in blank area, lacking pp. 243-48, some thumb soiling, scoring and annotations in ink), green half calf, gilt spine numbered "vol. 4", red speckled edges (original wrappers not bound in). Provenance: 1877 with blank inserted between C7 and C8 with notes in ink; and marginalia in the same hand.
