Unsigned, Echizen Province, Edo Period (17th Century)
The blade hirazukuri, mitsumune, o-itame nagare hada with jinie, with a suguha hamon in ko-nie with variations, with a komaru boshi, a kurikara sukashibori horimono (worn), slightly suriage, 29.3cm., in its black lacquer saya deeply shaped and carved as clouds through which a silver and gold dragon winds, the silver mounts comprising fuchi-kashira, koiguchi, kozuka, uragawara and kojiri all carved with gilt dragons among waves in high relief, the tsuba with a band formed as a dragon, 19th century
