Signed Nagasone Okihisa with cutting test inscription in gold inlay; Karikane Dotan barai and inscribed Tenpo 8 Tei-yu nen (1837) 10-gatsu mata 7-hi kore tamesu, Edo Period (17th Century)
Sugata [configuration]: hon zukuri, iori mune, toriizori with chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: fine ko-mokume with jinie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: chu-suguha of nie
Boshi [tip]: komaru
Nakago [tang]: ubu, kurijiri, katte sagari file marks, one hole
Habaki [collar]: single copper with gold rim
Shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]: in shirasaya inscribed by Dr. Sato Kanzan
Nagasa [length from tip to beginning of tang]: 72.1cm.

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Tokubetsu Hozon Token [sword especially worthy of preserving] no. 147490 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] on 10 June 2002.

The smith was one of the three immediate pupils of Nagasone Kotetsu together with Okimasa and Okinao. His work closely resembles that of Kotetsu.
