Tasting note: Pétrus 1994: The 1994 Pétrus has emerged from its cloak of tannin and is exhibiting a profoundly dark, opaque color, powerful aromas of overripe mulberries and blackcurrants intermingled with toasty, spicy, oak, and fabulously sweet, rich fruit. This extremely dense, powerful, highly-extracted wine will need 5-8 years of cellaring. It is a sensational effort from this small estate. Look for it to rival Latour and Lafleur as one of the three longest-lived wines of the vintage; it will age for 30-35 years. 93-94 Points: Robert Parker; Wine Advocate (104) April 1996
