Château Latour--Vintage 1998

1 magnum per lot
Details
1998 Vintage Report: The flowering took place early, and went through well, promising an abundant crop. July was dry, though not very sunny, then August was hot and dry, with 4 days (6-10 August) having temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius. This roasted the grape skins, vitally contributing to the ripening process. Merlot grapes reached magnificent, full ripeness, and all the Jean-Pierre Moueix properties - including of course Pétrus - were picked in 3 days before storms arrived in late September. The vintage is regularly brilliant on the Right Bank, but, when the Cabernets reached full maturity, superb wines, with concentrated tannins, were also made on the Left, notably at Ch. Latour. A.H.
