Château Latour--Vintage 1999

12 bottles per lot
Details
1999 Vintage Report: That good grapes could be produced at the end of a growing season like 1999 is little short of a miracle. For some it was the most difficult year in memory ... January and February were cool and abnormally dry but bud burst took place in equally abnormal heat. April and May were also very hot...Early June was stormy but the rest of the month was again very bot right through to the end of July. August variable ... but the three weeks that led up to 5th September were ideal, dry and warm. This was rudely interrupted by a severe thunderstorm and devasting hail from Libourne to St-Emilion. On the whole some very agreeable wines, though the market held back a little to see how the 2000 would turn out. M.B.
