No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more The Property of a Gentleman This and the following three lots were acquired by Colonel H J Simson, Royal Scots Regiment, and his wife Nancy Simson whilst he was serving as Military Attaché to Japan in the early 1930s. Colonel Simson learned Japanese when posted as Liaison Officer to Japan during the Russian Japanese war in 1905. He rose to the rank of Brigadier and was awarded the Military Cross after the Great War of 1914-1918. Colonel Simson was a Kendo expert and was nicknamed 'Banzai Simson' by his fellow officers.
