AN EGYPTIAN BLACK BASALT BLOCK STATUE OF WAHIBRE
PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 304-30 B.C.
Depicted seated on an integral plinth with his knees drawn up to his chest, his arms crossing and resting above, his feet and hands emerging from his long robe, the fingernails and toenails delineated, wearing a smooth shoulder-length wig, his full face with smiling lips, a rounded nose, lidded eyes and gently-arching modelled brows, the front of the statue sculpted in shallow sunk relief with Wahibre, priest of Amen, standing with his hands raised in adoration before the mummiform god Osiris, Wahibre wearing a long kilt, Osiris holding a staff and wearing a plumed atef-crown, both figures identified by accompanying columns of hieroglyphic text reading, "Osiris, Foremost of the Westerners, Lord of Abydos, the Great, All Life, Stability, Dominion" and "Saying the Words/Recitation by the Osiris, the God's Father and God's Servant of Amun in -sut (Karnak) Wahibre, son of the God's Father and God's Servant of Amun in Ipet-sut, Diamun-nebnesettawy, Borne by the Lady of the House Ta-Amun-nebnesettawy," all beneath a horizontal band of five-pointed stars symbolizing the vault of heaven
