De Glehn's nude studies proved a popular and lucrative diversion in the winter months between the wars, when the weather prevented him from painting out of doors. The pose in the present composition is very similar to The Bather, which featured the same model, and was exhibited in de Glehn's one man shows at the Goupil Gallery in 1925 and Barbizon House in 1930.
