ATTRIBUTED TO THE FLORENCE PAINTER, CIRCA MID 5TH CENTURY B.C.
The obverse with a nude satyr pursuing a maenad, stepping forward with his left leg, reaching toward her with his left arm, his right arm behind, with a bald pate, snub nose and beard, his abdominal muscles rendered in dilute glaze, the maenad fleeing her aggressor but looking back, draped in a himation over a chiton; the reverse with two facing draped youths, one holding a staff; both scenes framed by ovolo above, a double row of dots on either side
