TWO ROMAN BRONZE MOLOSSIAN HOUNDS
CIRCA 2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
The dogs reclining with their heads resting on their outstretched forepaws, symmetrically opposed with one leaning on its right side with the left hind leg splayed at its side, the other leaning on its left side with the right hind leg splayed at its side, their furry tails curling around their flanks, each with a thick collar of fur extending from the top of the head to the shoulders, stippling for the remainder of the coat, with a long pointed muzzle and everted triangular ears, their large eyes with recessed pupils bulging below thick brows, each with a thick iron pin along the hollow underside for attachment
