Lot Essay

Sophie Menter was a German pianist and composer. She was a pupil of Sigmund Lebert, one the founders of the Stuttgart Conservatory, and was also taught by Franz Liszt. From 1883 to 1886 Menter taught piano at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
