With two bowls decorated with mountaneous wooded landcsapes and separated by a pierced frieze, decorated by a ribbon-tied laurel swag and headed by a foliate finial, on a circular spreading shaft and a fluted column with a laurel swag, on a rectangular base with canted angles decorated with the figures of a young maiden and a young Harlequin, on feet joined by a laurel swag, losses to the upper bowl

This charming pot-pourri shows the influence of the marchands-merciers who were allowed to combine the products of different artisans of several corporations when the Guild's official rules were particularly constrained. These objets d'art, associating oriental porcelain and lacquer with French ormolu were highly fashionable and prized during the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI.
