The circular glazed ormolu dial with inset white-enamelled Roman numerals and twin-barrel movement signed 'Charles Champion a Paris', the arched pediment headed by the figure of Saturn and flanked by flaming urns, above a relief depicting Jupiter on his cart driven by two horses, the angles headed by female terms, the glazed concave-fronted sides headed by a perforated shell, the canted angles terminating in toupie feet, the lambrequinned bracket centred by Apollo's mask, flanked by four S-scrolled supports issuing from an acanthus and fruited foliage boss
