In the second half of the 18th century, the masonic lodges began to establish their own halls and to commission not only insignia but also items which reflected their social aspect.

Two graduating famille rose Masonic punch bowls, Qianlong
each enamelled to the exterior and interior with symbols and references to the Masonic Order, the exterior with beehives and bees, a work table, a Bible between and compass and set-square, and various other stonemason's tools, the interior with The Pillars at the Entrance to King Solomon's Temple flanking a sun bearing the initial 'G', surrounded by the sun, moon, seven stars and variously with an eye and a waterfall -- 15¾in. (40cm) and 10¼in. (26cm) diam. (2)
