FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THOMAS on the front free endpaper beneath the signature of David Lougie: "love from Dylan." 1,500 copies of the first edition were printed on 4 April 1940. Thomas had begun work on this collection of autobiographical short stories in 1938, when he was just 23 years old. Included are "Patricia, Edith and Arnold," based on his visit to Cwmdonkin, Wales and "The Peaches," based on his experiences on the farm at Fernhill. Rolph B6.
