11 lithographs in colours from the set of 12 (lacking Winter Solstice, but with a duplicate of Assembly of Square Forms), on TH Saunders wove, 1970, each signed or signed with initials and dated in pencil, annotated proof or passed (except Orchid which has no signature or annotation), five inscribed with the title and Top on the reverse, proofs before the edition of sixty (there were also 12 numbered in Roman numerals), published by Marlborough Fine Art, London, with wide margins, four with a deckle edge to one side, some minor foxing and surface dirt, some very pale time staining, otherwise generally in good condition, loose within blue canvas portfolio with titles in silver, in very good condition (portfolio)

Lot Essay

The present lot represents the Bon à tirer proofs for the series. On Two Ancestral Figures Hepworth has also inscribed excellent in the lower margin, and in the upper margin she has circled a stray blue ink spot and added an exclamation mark.
