Pendentif aux formes imposantes et vigoureuses réalisé dans une fonte épaisse et comportant la représentation d'une divinité masculine ailée se tenant sur une barre, encadrée de serpents filigranés aux corps ajourés émergeant des angles inférieurs et de chaque oreille, aux ailes en croissant rabattues sur les côtés et encadrées de motifs hérissés en arêtes avec une moulure perlée, à la tête de rapace avec de grands yeux tubulaires excentrés et un bec incurvé enserrant un poisson, et avec un panache de plumes enroulées sur le dessus comme crête ; crochet de suspension au revers.

VERAGUAS-DIQUIS GOLD FIGURAL PENDANT

Of bold and imposing form densely cast with a winged male deity standing on a bar with snakes, with openwork, filigree bodies issuing from the ankles and ears, arched wings to the sides with herringbone braid and beaded trim, the raptorial head with large recessed, tubular eyes, curved beak clenched grasping around a fish, and curling feathers emanating as a crest above; suspension loop on the reverse.
Such composite figural pendants showing bird, serpent and human traits are some of the most distinguished objects of the Central American goldwork tradition.
