A GEORGE II IRISH SILVER CAKE-BASKET
MARK OF ROBERT CALDERWOOD, DUBLIN, 1743
Oval and with pierced foliate scroll sides below a shaped shell and rocaille rim, the ends heightened with cupid masks, engraved inside with flowers on a textured ground centring a coat-of-arms, with an overhead swing handle and supported on four grotesque mask feet, marked underneath, the handle apparently unmarked, further marked on the base and the handle with a later French import mark, the base also engraved with a scratchweight '55=3'
