Lot Essay

The present work was executed by the draughtsman and actress, Jean Shepeard, who depicted personalities and artist friends such as Vanessa Bell and R O Dunlop. Shepeard showed with Francis Bacon in 1929 in his Queensberry Mews studio, the same year she exhibited at the Redfern Gallery with Augustus John, Lucien Pissarro, Paul Nash and Eric Gill.
