Archambaud-Joseph de Talleyrand, né à Paris en 1762, poursuivit une carrière militaire et fut nommé un lieutenant-général honoraire en 1816. En 1817, le titre de duc de Talleyrand-Périgord, conféré à son frère aîné le Prince Charles-Maurice, lui fut transmis. A ce titre, il est l'auteur de la branche des Talleyrand, ducs de Valençay et princes de Sagan, par le mariage de son fils Edmond avec la princesse Dorothée de Courlande en 1809. Il mourra à Saint-Germain-en-Laye, en avril 1838.

He received the ducal title of his oldest brother, Prince Charles-Maurice, in 1817, and as such, was the originator of the Talleyrand branch of the Dukes of Valençay and the Princes of Sagan through his son Edmond's marriage to Princess Dorothée de Courlande in 1809. He died in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in April 1838.
