Lot Essay

The portraits of Queen Marie-Antoinette and Princess Elisabeth as adults are after oil paintings by Elisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun. The portrait of Madame Elisabeth as a child with pug is after the portrait by Joseph Ducreux of 1768, now at Versailles, inv. no. MV3903.
