MARK OF MI CROWNED (GOTHIC SCRIPT), PROBABLY PROVINCIAL, EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With stand-away hinges, cover and base engraved with acanthus and scroll motif, marked with maker's mark only inside cover and base, both of which are hinged, height 1¼in. (3.1cm.)

Although this maker's mark appears to be unrecorded, Jackson's Revised Edition (1989) lists under "Unascribed English Provincial", P.518 (top) another(conventional) MI crowned seen on a nutmeg grater
