Further details
Merry Hampton was the winner of the 1887 Epsom Derby. Owned by George Alexander Baird (G.A.B.), trained by Martin Gurry and ridden by Jack Watts, the horse won by 4 lengths at a price of 100-9. The vesta case was presumably presented to, or made for the owner to commemorate the event.
