RUSSIAN (VOLGA AREA), 19TH CENTURY
Both Saints are represented haloed, in three-quarter positions, facing each other. Saint Arsenii wears the omophorion thus indicating that he served in an ecclesiastical position during his life. The Holy Face hangs above the Saints. The gilt oklad of the icon includes, in between the Saints, a cathedral which is not painted on the panel. The icon and its oklad are presented in a green case. - Icon: 4 7/8 x 3¾in (12.5 x 9.5cm.) - Oklad: 5 x 3 7/8in. (12.75 x 9.75cm.)
