A FAVRILE GLASS, TURTLEBACK TILE AND BRONZE FIRE FENDER, CIRCA 1905

This fire fender is identical to designs for light screens reproduced in Alastair Duncan, Tiffany at Auction, New York, p. 198, figs. 547 and 548. Tiffany Studios is known to have produced other implements for the hearth including various designs for andirons and fire screens. This unusual piece illustrates how the Studios' designers creatively adapted existing designs for other uses.
