Provenance: Mary and Susanna Ireland (signatures on front and rear endpapers dated 1787 and 1788). RARE. cf. Gumuchian 2756 (with frontispiece in facsimile and 4-pages of publisher's advertisements); cf. Osborne II, p.890 (closest match being an imperfect copy of 1780 edition): "First published in 1765". Authorship of Goody Two Shoes is variously ascribed to Giles and Griffith Jones and Oliver Goldsmith.
