Cf. a celadon jade box and cover carved with similar designs of scrolling flowers and leaves, included in the Catalogue of a Special Exhibition of Hindustan Jade in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, 1983, pl. 58; and a ruby and gold embellished white jade covered box, sold in these Rooms, 1 November 2004, lot 904. A box like this is depicted among other pieces laid out before a Maharaja and his consort, on a painted Mughal miniature dated c. 1750, in the Musee Guimet, Paris, illustrated by Satyajit Ray, Autres nouvelles du Bengale, on the front cover.

The combined elements of the contrasting white jade on spinach-green, and the use of the silver inlay, are quite unusual, differing considerably from the more popular gold outlines with gemstone beads. The use of silver inlay is seen on a Mughal urn in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, illustrated op. cit., 1983, pl. 48; while the reverse combination of spinach-green jade inlaid decoration on a white jade jar is illustrated on pl. 47.
